Supporters will have a home in 2009
In a recent meeting with RSL leadership a new plan for Supporter Groups was unveiled and here are the details:
  • Five full sections have been set aside for the supporter groups; 2 for the Loyalists, 2 for the RCB, and 1 for the FCB. A total of 1648 seats (I believe I got that number right)(This means if you do not take part with your group during the preview nights-see below-the FO will verify your membership in a supporters group)
  • These sections will be behind the south goal, as is fairly standard in MLS and soccer around the world, (I don't like it, but I do understand it).
  • There will be no front row premium for seats in the supporter sections, and the seats will be offered at a discounted price of $275, which is $25 less than the north end of the stadium.
  • These sections will be clearly labled to indicate on stadium maps, on the new ticketing software, and on the actual tickets.
  • RSL is offering private tours and seat selection events for the supporter groups, prior to the general relocation project begining, all events will start at 5:30pm and RSL will provide food for the events:
    Loyalists June 16th
    RCB June 17th
    FCB June 19th
  • There will be no sponsor signage in the sections, open space for group banners and signs. RSL is also wanting to work with groups in using their graphic design staff, and banner printer to offer discounted banners and signs.
  • RSL will work on allowing for groups to have a storage area at the stadium for banners, flags, drums, and other equipment
  • They are working on finding an area on the stadium grounds to allow for tailgating.
  • The stadium will open for the last two regular season matches:
    • Oct 9th vs. Red Bulls
    • Oct 18th vs. FC Dallas
  • seats for these will be done on a straight seat for seat move, the supporter group sections may be open for the matches

2009 Supporter Groups and Supporters Culture

As many of you know, there has been a lot of traffic on RSL forums lately about “Supporters Groups”, the “Supporters Sections”, and some heavy recruiting going on in cyberspace.  This is because conversations which were begun in 2005-2006 with an RSL front office which bears little similarity to the one which currently exists have finally come to some phase of conclusion.

RSL vs. Chivas Semi-Live game blog

Well both sides appear to be making some last minute changes for Chivas out is Brad Guzan to the USMNT and back in is Sacha Kljestan who is back from the USMNT and Johnathan Bornstein is back in the midfield for Chivas and Joe Kennedy will get his first MLS start in goal. RSL appears to be moving Dema Kovalenko into the D-mid role and giving Matias Cordoba a start to provide an additional offensive punch.
